EVENT INFO
Festival of Colors: Holi NYC is a joyous celebration of the coming of spring. It is a night of revelry full of DJs, bands, delicious food, and great people. It is a time when social barriers collapse, and all are united in joyful celebration. It is a time to throw vibrantly colored powder at your friends and strangers, and dance together as one huge colorful mass of beautiful people.
Q: What's the deal with this powder stuff?
A: You throw it at people, and (with their permission) rub it on their faces.
Q: Won't I get messy though?
A: Yes, YOU WILL GET MESSY. Please wear clothing that you won't be too stressed about if it gets colorful. The powder is designed not to stain, but its probably not the evening to be breaking out the white mink.
Q: Is it safe?
A: Yes. It's made from cornstarch and food dye. We ask that people refrain from throwing powder into people's eyes or mouth, but accidents do happen. If this worries you, you should consider wearing sunglasses and/or a bandana.
Q: Can I bring my own powder? what about paint?
A: Definitely not. Unfortunately we cannot verify that yours is safe like ours is.
Q: Will there be food or drink?
A: Yes. There will be a selection of delicious food trucks, and a cash bar.
Q: Can I bring my own refreshments?
A: Sorry, but no.
Q: What kind of music will there be?
A: We are still booking artists. However, if you want to get an idea, click on "Music" above to check out the music from previous years. This year we are going to have a slightly more band heavy beginning of the day, with a more electronic evening.
Q: Where is it?
A: A massive outdoor space in Brooklyn, with a smaller indoor area. More details coming soon...
Location:
The Cultural Performing Arts Center @ Pulse 48

Opening Friday April 25th and showing every Friday & Saturday night at 7pm through May 31st at the SoHo Playhouse! Selected "BEST OF THE FEST" of the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival, LAST OF THE KNOTTS is a 1-man comi-tragedy and the story of poet-hipster, Doug Knott's irreverent and thorny battle with becoming a father... or Knott! After putting up with a lifetime's worth of pain from ...his own abusive Judge of a Dad, Doug promises himself and his old man to be "the last of the Knotts" until... he falls in love with a beautiful woman with a pet boa constrictor... and "one of his sperm clings to a lifeboat inside her." The show too, is pregnant with laughs, squirms, and the comic and painful truth of life!

FYI This show was almost called either "Serious As a Fart Attack" or "High Pony Get Your Gun."
Known for her dark, absurdist humor and "magnetic diva aggression” (New York Times), Erin creates an at once riotous and unexpectedly moving performance about figuring out who you might be. Developed withKenny Mellman (The Julie Ruin, Kiki and Herb, Our Hit Parade), original music and pop covers score the frailities of midwestern family life and salvation by Bible-Belt Christians, leotards, hurricanes and psoriasis. With special guest Emily Bt!

Jedis, Trekkers, Browncoats, Time Lords and Hitchhikers from all corners of the cosmos, follow us to a cantina at the end of the universe to celebrate Star Wars Day, May the Fourth. There will be aesthetically pleasing air pressure waves coming at your eardrums, mad scientist concoctions (no synthahol, we promise), and an eclectic crowd of humanoids, demonoids, arachnoids, cephalopoids, androids, and surprisingly many other alienoids. We won't let any wookies tear your arm off, but don't mention Miranda, or the seemingly harmless 90-pound brunette wandering around barefoot may suddenly opt for some thrilling heroics, and then you're on your own. Dress uniforms encouraged, watch out for the replicants, and don't forget your towel. You can materialize your Tardis right on the dance floor, but we recommend buying your multipass in advance, in case a clone invasion results in massive overcrowding and subsequent destruction of the entire multiverse.
With our special guests: alien monster puppet creature funk band BIG NAZO [11pm], returning just for this event from Rhode Island (though we suspect it's really outer space). Stumblebum Brass Band [10pm] brings the brass mayhem straight from the stratosphere. DJs keep you dancing after the live bands.
Costume required, as always. Think Star Wars, Star Trek, HGTTG, Firefly, Doctor Who, Blade Runner, Martians, robots, aliens, androids, giant spider creatures with tentacle faces, orange-haired hot-pants-wearing supreme beings, intergalactic bounty hunters, true-blue-blooded opera singers, shiny creatures of energy in corporeal form, the time-traveling anti-you.

With individual remixes reaching hundreds of thousands of plays on SoundCloud and original productions incorporated as the climax of established artists' sets such as Crizzly, Dotcom has proven he's not just here to stay, he's here to blow your mind and then probably break your speakers in the process.

Born in the small island country of Bermuda, Choppa Dunks has been involved in music since he was a toddler. After playing the drums in a successful reggae band for 4 years, Choppa decided to move to the US to bring his music career to the next level. Choppa attended Berklee College of Music in Boston for two years, which is where he decided to put drums on the back burner and bring his production to the next level. Since 2012, he has been recognized by the heavy hitters of his genre and had support from artists like Borgore, Major Lazer and many others. His first major release in early 2014 titled 'Get Sore' released on Buygore Records, reached the top 10 on the Beatport Hip-Hop charts, with many people in the bass music world rinsing it in their sets.

You can never be completely sure what you're in for when you see Subset perform -- even he isn't too certain what to expect. Honing his craft over the past three years in the demanding and eclectic New York City scene, Subset has soaked up the variety of music NYC has to offer and developed his unique sound by finding ways to weave all of these loose threads together.
Depending on the setting, and more importantly what socks he's wearing, Subset throws down sets ranging from techno to booty house and everything in between. Whether it's setting the mood in an intimate room before Photek, bringing the main stage to a frenzy after Pendulum and Caspa, or bringing a dark Brooklyn afterparty into the sunrise, Subset has proven that he can adeptly read any room and decide which tracks best fit the mood.
Since 2011, Subset has been the resident DJ of New York City's weekly Bassment Saturdays party. He has utilized Bassment Saturdays as a way of giving underground artists an outlet to perform in front of an attentive and receptive crowd. Many artists, including Alvin Risk, CRNKN, Buku, Astronomar, and Sadhu all had their NYC debuts at Bassment. Entering its third year, Bassment Saturdays has upcoming guests including some of the heaviest hitters in dubstep and trap.

BASSment Saturdays is New York City's biggest weekly dubstep party. Founded in June 2011, the party has attracted bass heads from all around the tri-state area since its inception. With talent ranging from underground heroes to DMC champions and world-renowned bass music legends, the lineup is always interesting and always has something new to offer.
BASSment Saturdays takes place on the basement floor at the world-famous Webster Hall in "The Studio," which has an underground and intimate vibe without sacrificing any production quality. The bass shakes the room and a hypnotizing light and laser show captivates the crowd all night long. There is a bar and a tattoo shop in the room, so you can get inked while listening to dubstep and drinking a beer.
The party's resident DJ, Subset, has been with the party since September 2011 and has continued to impress party-goers with his mixing skills, on-stage energy, and brand new (often unreleased) tracks. With Subset involved, the crowd always knows that they will be hearing the best and latest music. BASSment Saturdays is a one-of-a-kind experience that you can't get at most parties in New York City -- great venue, amazing sound, incredible music, and diehard music fans.
