40 YEARS OF FASHION BY ELIE TAHARI
Thursday, April 3
6:00-8:00pm
Museum at F.I.T.
27th and 7th Avenue
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of Elie Tahari’s first Madison Avenue boutique. The Israeli-American designer launched his wholesale career, spanning Africa, South America and Asia with the $2 tube top. Then it was dresses and halters, nights at Studio 54 and a $500 million a year empire. He came to America with $100, slept on park benches, yet Upper East Side elegance ultimately defined his brand. Tahari will share highlights of his momentous career and life story. A moderated conversation with Patricia Mears, Deputy Director of the Museum at FIT and a Q&A with audience participation will follow.
This event requires no RSVP and is free. Organized by FIT's School of Art and Design.
