Members Only Style & Art Evening: David

D’Angers Making the Modern Monument at the Frick Museum
 The Frick Collection 
 
This lecture will examine David d’Angers’s monumental commissions of the 1820s and 1830s in relation to the Bourbon Restoration, the July Monarchy, and the politics of public memory. [CBSAC/NY Members Only event]
 

It also will consider the sculptor’s relationship to the period’s architects and their collaborative work on the transformation of urban space in Paris.
 
This Salon Evening is inspired by the special exhibition “David d’Angers: Making the Modern Monument.”Following their presentations, speakers will be joined in conversation by Emerson Bowyer, guest curator of the exhibition. A reception and exhibition viewing between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. is also included.  
 
During the reception, CBSAC-NY members are invited to meet Art Historian Leslie Wallick and learn her special insights about the collections at the Frick museum.
