Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore reads from and discusses her wildly praised new memoir at her only NYC bookstore appearance! The End of San Francisco breaks apart the conventions of memoir to reveal the passions and perils of a life that refuses to conform to the rules of straight or gay normalcy. Ariel Gore, writing in Psychology Today, calls it "one of the most important memoirs of the decade."
Described as "a cross between Tinkerbell and a honky Malcolm X with a queer agenda" by the Austin Chronicle and one of "50 Visionaries Changing Your World" by Utne Reader, Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore is the author of two novels, and the editor of five nonfiction anthologies, including Nobody Passes: Rejecting the Rules of Gender and Conformity, That's Revolting!: Queer Strategies for Resisting Assimilation, and most recently, Why Are Faggots So Afraid of Faggots?: Flaming Challenges to Masculinity, Objectification, and the Desire to Conform. She lives in Seattle, WA.
