  • We are so excited to announce a special evening with Griffin Dunne at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers NY on Friday, October 25th! We will be screening a 35mm print of LISA PICARD IS FAMOUS at 7pm with an Intro & Q&A and a remastered DCP of American Werewolf in London at 10pm with an intro featuring the incontrovertibly brilliant Griffin Dunne, hosted by Alamo’s own Tim League.

The Griffin Dunne helmed LISA PICARD IS FAMOUS follows the career of a NY actress (Laura Kirk) on the brink of achieving fame and notoriety, and examines the hilarious pitfalls of trying to make it in entertainment. LISA PICARD is one of the great early examples of the comedy/mocumentary format that has since defined smash successes like The Comeback, The Office, and Parks and Recreation, and features appearances by the likes of Sandra Bullock, Carrie Fisher, Charlie Sheen, Spike Lee, Fisher Stevens and Mira Sorvino. Why have you never heard of it before? Well, the film was released on September 15th, 2001. To help preserve its place in film history, Griffin with intro and host a Q&A for this screening on its original 35mm print.

The legendary, John Landis directed cult classic American Werewolf stars Griffin and David Naughton as two American college students on a backpacking tour of Britain are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists. The film is widely loved for its tremendous blend of comedy and horror as well as the spectacular practical effects that won it (and fx designer Rick Baker) an academy award for outstanding effects in makeup in the category’s inaugural year.

Proceeds from the screenings will be donated to the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence. We hope you will join us!

A van will be leaving from Union Square at 5pm. If you would like to be on the van, please let us know and we will accommodate accordingly.
