24 year old Amplify Dot (or ‘Dot’ to her friends) has been making waves as one of the most thrilling underground talents over the past few years.
The South London resident has one of the most exciting voices in the genre, spitting confident rhymes and creating a witty narrative about the world around her.
The moment when Dot realised her only ambition in life was to become an MC came at the age of 14 when she attended a sold-out Missy Elliot show in Brixton. On hearing the rap queen call out for someone in the audience to come up on stage and show off their lyrical prowess, the precocious teenager scrambled through the crowd and over the barriers to present herself as the best candidate for the job. A rap battle ensued and Dot emerged victorious, with Missy declaring "One day you're going to be big!"

A Solo Exhibition by Stephen Holding

Opening Reception: Friday, April 12th, 2013 7:00pm to 11:00pm

Announcing the first, Boston solo exhibition by New York City-based artist Stephen Holding at Lot F Gallery. Entitled, “CLEAR EARTH”, this exhibition will be the most comprehensive showing of his artwork to date, featuring a series of abstract, mixed media explorations on plexiglass.

Holding's focus to detail is astounding, and is evident in his work. His pieces of artwork have been exhibited around the world. He has shown at both local galleries, including the Mass Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MOCA) as well as hung in shows in Hong Kong and Tokyo. In 2002, he graduated with a BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and has been perfecting his craft with increased intensity since.

Stephen became transfixed in the idea of the relationship between the physical world and the metaphysical universe and has been expressing his interpretation in his art for some time now. His new body of work, an extension from his previous, depicts this threshold between the perceived and the undetectable. Sometimes the meeting of these two is harmonious and fluid, and other times it is a violent and explosive collision.

The artist captures this moment, where new dimensions are born from the reactions that occur when these two worlds meet. During this process the roles of the visible and invisible trade places, creating a vision of a world that is not based on solid physical matter but on light, motion, energy, and infinite possibilities for creation and growth. Art Journalist Lara Verrochi describes his work:

“Graffiti-like forms fracture the canvas and expose the pulse hidden within the landscape. Neon birds bolt across the sky above dripping horizons. Vibrant color spins webs across the canvas while clouds simmer just below the surface. Fine art combines with multimedia and shrouds us in his surreal vision. They remind me of fireworks, the secret lining of the heart, outer space, rare fauna and alien calligraphy. His pieces are gentle yet energetic- executed with an intuitive style that submerges us in a dream. Like an abstract thought carrying blueprints.”

After showing Stephen in the 2012 exhibition titled, “Three”, Lot F Gallery is very excited to share with the world the artist's new work. Please join us to celebrate, at the opening reception on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at Lot F Gallery, from 7-11 pm.

Proprio ora che si avvicina la celebrazione del decimo anno di Horse Meat Disco, come non mai il collettivo londinese di dj continua ad aprire la strada in prima linea nel panorama clubbing, a partire dalle residenze ormai storiche all’Eagle Club di Londra, al Cielo di New York, al Prince Charles di Berlino e al Silencio / Wanderlust di Parigi, fino agli immancabili show nei migliori Festival internazionali.

Adesso, finalmente, uno dei party più acclamati del mondo torna a Milano in veste ufficiale. Discosafari, Cockette e Blanco vi invitano alla serata più inebriante, folle ed esibizionista del Fuorisalone 2013: e non potrebbe essere così se in consolle non ci fossero LUKE HOWARD e SEVERINO, alfieri di quella che loro stessi chiamano “industria della felicità umana”.
Venerdì 12 Aprile la felicità arriva dritta sul dancefloor, spinta da vinili roteanti a suon di italo disco, punk funk, house e petardi elettrici e impreziosita da ricercati dischi-killer del passato e della scena più fresca ed attuale.
Horse Meat Disco è il party diverso ma per tutti: gay ed etero, club lovers, fashionisti, sognatori, gente della notte. Non resta che viverlo.
