Creative Team - Circa '95, The Booth Designer and Graphic Artist

Peace Mi Gente!

This week Circa '95 helped to unveil a public art project in the Bronx! A temporary installation with seating, solar-powered LED lighting, and a 24/7 stream of recorded music from Bronx-based artists. The project, called the Boogie Down Booth, is funded in part by the Department of Small Business Services and is part of the Under the Elevated initiative from the Design Trust for Public Space. Through September 15, people will be able to sit and listen to local music under the 2/5 Train line on the Freeman Street Stop. Plans for two more Boogie Down Booth installations are in the works, with one at another site on Southern Boulevard and the other in Melrose, at the site of Bronx Commons, where WHEDco is planning a permanent home for its Bronx Music Heritage Center. The same folks who designed and were a part of creating the Highline Park on West 14th street in NYC were also apart of this project. We are so thrilled and honored to be particpating in a project that brings Music, Art and Culture together. It means even more to us to have Hip-Hop be in the Booth!
