| The Cabaret Convention
This one-day event will bring together people from the worlds of cabaret, burlesque and variety from all over the UK for workshops, discussions and live performance. The emphasis will very much be on those based outside of London, though the event will be an opportunity for everyone (both from London and outside of London) to meet and share their thoughts.
The day of workshops will run from 11am to 6pm. In the evening there will be an opportunity for delegates interested in performing to show their peers what they can do. The venue is open until 2am.
We’d be delighted to have your voice included in the discussions so please read through the information below and let us know if you’d like to contribute to the Convention.
Confirming your attendance - we’ve kept the fees as low as possible for participants. Tickets are £6 to cover venue hire. Your attendance will be confirmed by purchasing tickets here: www.paullmartin.com/tickets.htm
We’ve limited the tickets to two per organisation to ensure that we get a diverse cross-section of professionals from all over the UK.
The Cabaret Convention is open to everyone!
Guest Speakers - we’ll be facilitating a number of open forum discussions as well as short talks from Guests. So far we can confirm the following Guest Speakers:
Paul L Martin (London Cabaret Awards) Ben Walters (Time Out cabaret editor) Jo King (London Academy of Burlesque) Sarah-Louise Young (award-winning performer, featured as soprano in Fascinating Aida in 2012) Catia Ciarico (Royal Vauxhall Tavern and Hot August Fringe) James Seabright (Theatre Producer)
Questions & Topics! - what are the topics you’d like to discuss with other promoters and producers? Are there any issues you’d like to raise or skills you’d like to learn? The more we know about your interests, the better we’ll be able to tailor the talks to your needs, so please let us know where your interests lie. Would you be interested in leading a discussion?
Stalls - we are considering offering participants the option of hawking their wares at stalls in the evening, as we know many of you create costume pieces. Would this be of interest to you? Please let us know as soon as possible so we can ensure that the space is suited to your needs.
Show - in the evening we’d like to offer participants the option of performing at the convention, please let us know if you’d be interested ASAP. We’ll be providing a DJ, compere, technician and sound system, but the stage is very basic and doesn’t include wings or a dressing room.
We look forward to meeting you in September! |
