Bryant Park
Free and open to the public
Get ready for some yee-haw’s and do-si-dos at this year’s Bryant Park Square Dance! Midtown’s biggest hoedown returns for its third year, and we’ve got a fantastic program planned.
We’ve concentrated three events into one big weekend:
Friday September 19th and Saturday September 20th
6-9pm
Square dancing with live Appalachian fiddle tunes and professional caller Dave Harvey
Sunday September 21st
1-4pm
Presenting a matinee
Don’t know how to square dance? Don’t worry, we’ll teach you. Without a partner? No problem, we’ll match you up. Afraid you’ll get hungry? We’ve got that covered too.Hester Street Fair, our concessionaire on movie nights, will have 10 stalls serving specialty eats for purchase, such as BBQ ribs, southern chicken, donuts, and much more. ‘wichcraft will serve beer and wine.
There’ll be more to do than just dance at these shindigs. On Friday and Saturday, we’re bringing in a mechanical bull to test the skills of the bravest urban cowboys and cowgirls. You can also try your hand at some classic lasso tricks, including the flat loop and vertical loop, with our instructor Harold. For the Sunday bash, bring the young ‘uns, because there’ll be square dance-themed crafts and dances for kids.
