About Annie Laurie Malarkey

Annie Laurie Malarkey is a lifestyle and portrait photographer living in Brooklyn, NY. She is passionate about capturing the essence of her subjects, and showing the push and pull of nature and femininity. Annie Laurie tells stories with her work, combining a love of documentary style photography, with more traditional portraiture. She grew up in Seattle, Washington, and studied photography at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. After two solo shows in Seattle, along with a group exhibition at Ghost Gallery, she is excited to present her work for the first time in NYC.

NYC GRO Girls Only Sessions
Homage TF
615 Degraw St, Brooklyn, NY

Each month, GRO NYC and Homage are providing two all girl skateboard sessions. One session focused on beginning riders and another for more advanced riders.

GRO NYC x Homage Beginners Skate Session

2nd Wednesday of each month** | 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

July 9th, August 13th, September 10th…

The beginner skate session is focused on learning and progression of basic skateboard skills. This session is more focused on instruction and a safer environment for learning.

Girls are encouraged to choose this session if they are just starting to ride, not able to drop in or turn on the ramps, or just feel they need a bit more practice on the basics.

Advanced riders are needed to help guide and instruct these newer riders. If you are able to help instruct these sessions, please email info@girlsriders.org to sign up.

By providing two sessions for two different ability levels, girls will be both safer and have more area to ride in the way best suited for that ability. If you are not sure where you fit in, ask. If you are already comfortable riding, but a beginner on ramps, you may consider attending both sessions.

Every participant must have a waiver signed with Homage to ride this event. Riders 18 and over can sign up at the session. Riders under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign. If a parent or legal guardian is unable to accompany a minor, email info@girlsriders.org to get a waiver before the event.

There are some boards and safety gear available to use if you don’t have your own.

To ensure the availability of the gear you need,

email info@girlsriders.org to provide a specific request of what you need.

GRO Sessions are free, but donations are welcome and help sessions going
