    Queens Museum Opening Weekend

    Opening Party:
    Saturday, November 9, 6-9pm

    After years of construction,
    please join us to celebrate the opening of the new Queens Museum.

    Our inaugural season will feature Peter Schumann: The Shatterer; Pedro Reyes: The People’s United Nations (pUN); Queens International 2013; Citizens of the World: Cuba in Queens and New York City Building Time Lapse, 2009 – 2013: Photographs by Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao. In our permanent galleries: World’s Fair Visible Storage; Selections from The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass, with a special exhibition Shade Garden: Floral Lamps from the Tiffany Studios; Faucets: The Marvel of the New York City Water Supply System and The Panorama of the City of New York.

    SATURDAY NOV. 9, 12-9pm
    Opening Ceremonies from Around the Borough and the World

    Artist performances by by Vlada Tomova, Lynley Bernstein, Joseph Heathcott, Matthew Volz, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons and Neil Leonard, Fujui WANG, Joro-Boro, and poetry by Tan Lin.

    3-6pm
    Artist Residency open studios

    6-9pm
    RE-OPENING PARTY with sound art, artists’ performances, DJ sets, food and drink.

    SUNDAY NOV. 10, 12-6pm
    Pilgrimage to the Museum

    Local folkloric dance groups and musicians will perform throughout the day, complementing an array of performances, screenings, and workshops by various participating artists in Queens International 2013. Screenings of projects by CHANG Chien-Chi, CHEN Chieh-jen, HSU Chia-Wei, Jun YANG, YU Cheng-Ta, Alex White Mazzarella, and Tushevs Aerials (Georgi and Nina Tushev) .

    Artist Residency Open Studios

    MONDAY NOV. 11, 12-9pm
    Family Festival. Families with children ages 5 – 12 are invited to visit the museum for FREE to enjoy the exhibitions and participate in a scavenger hunt, hands-on art making, puppet workshop and World’s Fair photo booth.

    Performances and screenings by Tushevs Aerials (Georgi and Nina Tushev), Michelle Marie Charles, Deville Cohen, Anne K.E., Nitin Mukul, Vlada Tomova, Drew Blanke, and Meglena Zapreva.

    7-9pm
    OPENING RECEPTION: PETER SCHUMANN
    Featuring a "Fiddle Sermon" Performance by Peter Schumann at 8pm,
    sourdough rye bread and beer will be served
