Somma's first solo art exhibition, "Phosphene Variations," is opening Wednesday, September 12th at Location One Gallery in SoHo.
The show will unveil the first ever interactive holographic art installation. The holograph features recorded performances by Robert Wilson, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Richard Move, Bill Shannon, Carmen De Lavallade, Laurie Anderson, Gus Solomons Jr. and more!
"Phosphene Variations" will exhibit Somma's recent explorations into the cross-disciplinary merging of science and technologywith performance to create autonomous works of visual art. The show is constructed around a live weekly performance, which will simultaneously generate independent visual art content in the form of analog video feedback. Opening night will feature a performance by the 93-year-old dancer Frances Wessells, with live music by electro-acoustic cellist Chris Lancaster.
