Dutch documentary filmmaker Mike Redman has spent nearly seven years exploring one of Hip Hop’s most enduring and controversial techniques: sampling. 

Since the dawn of the genre, 

artists have — sometimes blatantly, 

sometimes subtly and often secretly — crafted music by recycling fragments of existing material. 

However, 

despite the artistry involved, 

this music has been dogged by accusations of plagiarism. 

Redman’s film explores the grey area of sampling in a way that cleverly reflects the subject matter itself.
